Surgery day...

Hello friends, family, and prayer warriors...

Funny thing about later last night after I posted the blog, we all had the best time laughing when the lights went out! We haven't all (4) been in the same hotel room in years!!! Hillary and I were like little kids again and mom and dad laughed and threatened to send us to Grandma and Virgil's room upstairs! :) ha! (before lights went out though we had a wonderful family prayer for mom)

This morning is the day of mom's surgery. We all got up early and ate a quick breakfast at the hotel and headed to the hospital. They have a valet service for parking so that's what we did so she could get up to the surgery floor. We all chatted and laughed about fun things before they came to get her to take her back. Dad got to go with her and she started being prepped for surgery.

We will be updated approximately every 20 minutes in the waiting area about mom's progress so I'll update this post during the day today. Continue to pray that God guides the Dr.'s and assistants hands during this procedure! :) Talk to you later....b

Here's a picture of Hillary, Grandma and I after mom went back (notice our gray ribbons :))

UPDATE @ 2:00 p.m.--mom didn't get into surgery until around noonish time. The doctor said it would last approximately 6 hours or so....keep praying and thank you for the comments already. we are loving reading them while we're sitting here waiting to hear any more news. we'll keep updates coming all day! :)

  1. I am a patient of Dr.Breck's and I heard about your Mother in the most unusual way just this morning - please, may I say that I send each of you much love, positive energy and prayers for a speedy & healthy recovery. I have requested from my friends & family that they also say prayers, send love & positive energy to your Mother and her family at this time.

  2. Brook and Hillary, my mom's church in Old Ocean Texas, not far from where you are is praying as well. Thinking of you. They are wonderful there and the patients are all so close and caring. Be sure and check out the Hospitality room on the first floor. There are cancer survivors in there that will talk with you, pray with you and just be supportive.

  4. Girls, the picture of the rainbow is just perfect for this occassion. I remember the night before the board meeting that I was hired in - I drove past the school on my way home and just over in the eastern sky was the most beautiful, brightest rainbow I had ever seen and I knew at that moment everything was in God's hands and He would take care of me and give me the desires of my heart!!! (To be a Kindergarten Teacher!!) He has given you a sign during this trying time - grab hold of it and lean on His Everlasting Arms!!!! He always keeps His Promises!!! Love Always!!! 10. Well ya'll, if you get ready to eat the cafeteria at St Lukes hospital is better than the one there. If you ask someone they'll point you in the right direction and get there through the tunnel:)

  12. We're still praying and believing and we know you all are too. I was just sitting here thinking about how sweet Doreen is and she actually reminds me alot of Charlene. Charlene has always been the type to have such fun and to laugh and smile often. Hi, Charlene! Talking to my sister earlier, she made the comment "Doreen is loved by so many and people are truly seeking God for her, because they know she would be doing the same for them". I believe this to be true also. Thanks for keeping us updated.

  15. As a follow-up, I am on the phone with Mrs. McAdoo right now. She wanted to let you all know that she is keeping up with the blog but that she's too dumb to create a Google account so that she can post comments. Therefore, she had to call from Stigler to NYC to have me write this...ha!

Times have not changed...She still has her kids doing stuff for her. She loves you guys very much.
