Today....

My dad's mom (Charlene Forrester-Vaughn...Claire calls her GiGi--see picture) came over to watch mom today and I guess kept GiGi pretty busy! GiGi had to run around practically chasing mom and GiGI doesn't have the best knees either. It sounded like they had fun! They drove around town a little bit to get out of the house, mom had lots of visitors today, meals being brought, and at one point I think GiGi had a panic attack because mom was "gone"??!! She had gone outside and went into my dad's big outdoor shop/garage. You've got to watch her right now, she's a fast one! :)

I called a little bit ago, spoke to dad, and mom had new company over, so i'll talk w/ them later tonight and see if there's anymore info.

They will be flying out on Sunday afternoon to head down to Houston. Hillary and I will drive down Tuesday late evening due to work events we are committed to. We will be staying down there with dad, GiGi and Gramps (Virgil Vaughn) will maybe be going too??? Not sure about their plans yet. Dad said they told him at MD that it'll at least be a 10-14 day stay. I'll let you know more info soon! Love you all and thank you for commenting and the prayers of support, love, and encouragement!

I spoke to some of my staff, kids' parents today after school, and Hillary tells me of people constantly asking and praying for mom too. Everyone is so awesome and we want to THANK YOU so much for all you've said, done, and the faith you have as well. Keep passing this on to others to share mom's testimony! Love and prayers, Brooke

  1. Mrs. Forrester, Chuck, Brooke & Hillary,

Hi, this is Stephanie(Wilkett)Dohrer. Mom sent me a text about this blog on Tuesday and I'm sorry to just now be posting. I've lurked though and am glad to see that MD Anderson will be taking care of Mrs. Forrester. She was my first grade teacher (like many posters) and I truly loved her. She taught me colors & numbers in Spanish and I still to this day can visually see the red and green signs that hung on each side of her chalk board teaching us our left side from our right. Truly a great teacher and it sounds like she has inspired others throughout her teaching years. Stigler Public Schools is lucky to have her.

Brooke, I just want you to know that you, your mom and your family are in my heart. Cancer is a horrible disease. Faith, prayer, and determination are key to fighting this battle. You are and will be in my thoughts and I look forward to day that you post the words "My mom kicked Cancers Butt!"

  2. Hi Doreen,

Don't know if you remember me or not. I read the e-mail sent to me by my daughter, Kim Miller (U.S. Cellular), and I had to just sit and cry a bit. We met 35 years ago when we were both attending E.O.S.C. in Wilburton. We were never close, but I've always considered you a friend. Last time I saw you was a couple of years ago at your church when I attended with Kim and her daughter and I got to give you a big hug!! I've also known Charlene for years, so it's always good to see either of you at anytime. I just know that your daughters must possess the same inner and outer beauty that you have always had and I am so sorry that you're all having to deal with this. I know you have a very strong faith and that is going to help you through all of this. May God keep you close and always remember that He will be there so just lean on Him for everything. I am putting you on my prayer list at church and will continue to pray for you daily and check back here often to see updates on how things are going and how you are doing.

    Love,
    Sheryl Cox Carver

  3. Doreen, Eli wanted to say "hello" and tell you that he misses you in 1st grade class, however, he understands that you must take care of you right now. He is adjusting well to the new teacher and he wants you to know that he is praying for you. We are all praying, we have put your name on the prayer list at church (First Assembly) and will continue to pray until you conquer this battle. Love and Prayers, Kristi, Bryan, Eli, Kason and Savana Amos

  7. Mrs. Forrester, We continue to lift you up in our prayers each day...it's such a blessing to serve a God that is STILL performing miracles! You were such a nurturing teacher when I was in the first grade and then again when you had both of my girls. I remember when I was your intern, your patience and love for children always encouraged me. God has blessed you with such a sweet spirit! You are very loved and have many, many people asking God to take care of you now. I love you and will continue to be in prayer for you!

You are the absolute sweetest woman I have ever met. Your not just gorgeous on the outside..you have that inner light that shines through. I have always thought that. I have always thought the same about your daughter Hillary..I have never met your oldest daughter but I'm sure she has it too. You have an amazing family and support system behind you. You can ad me to that list!
